I saw the New Year in at Docklands in Melbourne.
There is much debate regarding the cost of
the fireworks and whether the money could
be better spent elsewhere.
I'm sure it could be and maybe the sense of
excitement and optimism created by the display,
doesn't outweigh the need for more hospital
beds and other things.
Nevertheless they were spectacular and it was
lovely watching them from the water.

Very pretty, and Happy New Year! Though I often think the money could be better spent elsewhere, especially when it comes to the Sydney fireworks. Pretty ridiculous the millions of dollars that goes into it every year!

ReplyDeleteDo you know, I think however much the world needs more hospital beds and the like, it also needs the pure joy of a firework display to mark the hope for better times ahead that each new year brings.

Fireworks are the perfect way to bring in the new year... and they look like they were breathtaking! We do them so well in Australia... here in NYC, the independence day fireworks don't even come close!
